Working at the core of community projects to understand issues relating to epilepsy and the health and wellbeing of people with epilepsy which is felt to be most important to patients and communities themselves, and to identify, engage and support community-led action to address these issues. Also, to give training and produce education materials to increase the knowledge of the community about epilepsy. You will be expected to work in different environments (both office-based and on the ground), at times best suited to the community (including some early morning and weekends).

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Raising patients and public awareness to increase ‘medical seeking behavior’ among people with epilepsy and to empower them to take the lead role for their own clinical care; 
  2. Arrange and attend the patient support group meeting which will be held on the last Sunday of each month.
  3. At registration of patients, take the lead role in registering patients and informing them the services they will get from our organization and the responsibilities they bare.
  4. Organize and run income generating activities
  5. Make weekly home monitoring phone calls and pass on information to our nurse specialist for urgent clinical care needs.
  6. Provide counselling to patients - listen to patients' concerns (individually and communally), suggestions and experiences so that you can find solutions by raising these with people who design and manage services.
  7. Support the running of epilepsy clinics.

Project and Account Officer

The role of the employee is to proactively support the organsation with respect to the information it needs to do its job and add value using project reporting and financial analysis. This includes writing project activities and financial report monthly and quarterly and annual budgeting, forecasting and arranging auditing as required.

Prime responsibilities of this position is to:

Our Epilepsy specialist nurse will work across the fields of adult, paediatric and learning disability nursing. They are experts in epilepsy and are an essential part of a multidisciplinary team providing information and support for people with epilepsy.  The Epilepsy specialist nurse will be a point of contact for patients, their families and carers and help with any questions or concerns they have about their care and a source of expertise resource and advice to  professionals throughout Ethiopia.
  1. It is expected that anyone undertaking an epilepsy specialist nurse role will be a registered nurse with a minimum of 5 years' post-registration clinical experience in a relevant area of practice.

MAIN ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
  1. Provide secreterial/ administrative support to CareEpilepsy Ethiopia team.
  2. Oversee the timely dispatch of letters and correspondances.
  3. Responsible for the management of the CEO’s diary, dealing with enquiries regarding the availability, booking appointments and informing the consultant accordingly.
  4. Manage all incoming mail and quires. Identify and action any correspondence suitable for own response. Forward the reminder to the appropriate person for action ensuring high priority matters are given urgent attention.
  5. Creation and maintenance of an efficient filing system for in house word processed documentation with an effective retrieval procedure in accordance with CareEpilepsy Ethiopia’s style.
  6. Collect, and report data and information on CareEpilepsy Ethiopia services as and when appropriate.
  7. Responsible for maintaining adequate stock levels of stationery and office consumables and ordering of all stock and non-stock items, forwarding all requisitions to supplies department and accounts.
  8. Arrange and participate in induction and training of new and temporary staff and volunteers.
  9. Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security of self and others at work in a way that minimizes risks to health, safety and security. Report any issues at work that may put health, safety and security at risk to the service manager.
  10. You must not at any time use personal data held by either trust for any unauthorised purpose or disclosure such as data to a third party. Any breach of such confidentiality will be viewed with the upmost gravity.
